Doctor Charles Rivière
Orthopedic surgeon
Dr Charles Riviere speaks English fluently
PRESENTATION
Dr Rivière is subspecialized and fellow-trained in prosthetic replacement of the hip (total and resurfacing replacements) and of the knee (total, partial and combined replacements). He has performed more than 3500 implantations to date.
He uses state-of-the-art techniques particularly suited to prosthetic replacement in young and/or active patients : minimally invasive surgery, preservation of bone stock, and restoration of the unique joint anatomy of each patient (personalized and physiological technique known as kinematic alignment ). These techniques aim to improve the reliability of the operation by optimizing the functional performance and a natural feel of the prosthetic joint.
His expertise is the result of 3 years of subspecialisation in prosthetic surgery in renowned centers in Paris, London, and Montreal, and proficient scientific research activity. His surgical practice is the result of a combination of influences from world-renowned surgeons.
Dr. Rivière was a Hospital Practitioner until 2020 at the South West London Elective Orthopedic Center (United Kingdom). Today he operates between the Clinique du Sport de Bordeaux-Mérignac and the Lister Hospital (London Chelsea, UK).
TITRES ET FORMATIONS
Honorary Lecturer at Imperial College London University.
3 years of subspecialisation in prosthetic surgery (Fellowship) in London (2010) and Montreal (2011 to 2013).
Doctor of Medicine (thesis on hip resurfacing) and Doctor of Science / PhD (thesis on the kinematic/physiological implantation technique of knee prostheses).
Accreditation by the French Society of Orthopedic and Traumatological Surgery (SOFCOT), as well as by the High Authority for Health (HAS) to perform hip resurfacing (HR) as part of the management of coxarthrosis in young and active individuals. Resurfacing is an attractive alternative to total hip prosthesis (THA) because it optimizes the stability and functional performance of the prosthetic hip and preserves the bone stock to facilitate any subsequent surgical revision.
PROFESSIONNAL CAREER
